Timer

The timer is a stopwatch in the calendar header for tracking work as you do it, rather than logging it after the fact.

The timer running in the header

Starting and stopping

  • Start a timer from the ▶ play button on any row in the Work Items sidebar
  • While running, the header shows the issue key and a live HH:MM:SS counter
  • Stop the timer to open the Log Work dialog with the elapsed duration already filled in — review the details and click Log work to save

When no timer is running, the timer area is hidden so it doesn't add clutter.

It survives reloads

The timer's state is persisted in your browser's local storage, so:

  • A page reload doesn't lose the running time
  • Switching tabs keeps a single consistent timer — starting or stopping in one tab is reflected in the others

This means you can refresh Jira or jump between issues without worrying about losing an in-progress timer.
