Sharing, export & gadgets
A dashboard is only useful if your team can see it. Insights and charts covers in-Jira sharing, link sharing of a specific view, file export, and native Jira dashboard gadgets.
Auto-save
Dashboards save automatically as you edit — add a chart, change a filter, recolor a series — so there's no "Save" button to forget. The footer shows save state and quick actions (copy link, share).
Share a specific view by link
Export → Copy link to view copies a URL that encodes your current filters — scope filters, cross-filter selection, and date range. Whoever opens it lands on the exact view you're looking at, not just the dashboard's default. Your last view is also remembered per user, so you return to where you left off.
Share the dashboard with people
Open Share to grant access to specific people:
- Can view — open and interact (filter, drill, export), but not edit.
- Can edit — also add, configure, and remove widgets.
Mark a dashboard Restricted so that only the owner and the people it's shared with can open it; otherwise anyone with access to the app can. (Sharing controls access within the app — it doesn't change Jira issue-level permissions, which always still apply.)
Export to a file
From the Export menu:
- CSV — the issues behind the current view.
- Excel (XLSX) — the same, as a workbook.
- PNG — an image of the charts.
- PDF — the dashboard as a document.
Exports respect the current filters, so you export exactly what you see. They're produced in your browser, with no data sent to any external service.
Native Jira dashboard gadget
Beyond the full-page app, Insights and charts ships a native Jira dashboard gadget. Add it to any Jira dashboard to drop a configured chart alongside your other gadgets. A gadget can also act as a page-wide selection filter — a selection in one gadget cross-filters the other Insights gadgets on the same Jira dashboard, bringing the app's linked-brushing model to the native dashboard.
A note on "Runs on Atlassian"
Sharing, view persistence, and export all happen inside Atlassian's infrastructure or in your browser — there's no external server in the path and no data egress. See Security.
